Piebald Bluff

Piebald Bluff, which is a fairly quiet town that straddles a
wide tributary, less than a week's journey upriver from a major
intersection. The town supports a logging camp, some orchards and a
few hundred cattle and dairy cows. It gets its name from the bluff
overlooking the community. Atop the bluff is a small keep, the only
remaining structure of a once great city of the last human empire.
Where the rest of the city once stood now sits a thick forest, which
anyone who knows anything says is crisscrossed with paths into the
Feywild. Anyone who knows anything and also stops to think every now
and then agrees that the ruins of the lost human city must still exist
in some form out there in the forest, though the eladrin and elves who
wander out of the woods to trade from time to time refuse to confirm
this theory, or to act as guides so that the citizens of Piebald can
see for themselves. The citizens of Piebald don't press the issue,
and in return the fey remain indifferent to their logging on the other
side of the river.
